The presence of molybdenum occurrences in the quartz veins of the Manstev Gorge, located southeast of Teghut village, was first discovered in the second half of the 1930s. Prospecting and surveying activities conducted between 1956 and 1959 confirmed significant accumulations of copper-molybdenum ores in the specified area.

Geological exploration work, which led to the discovery of the deposit, began in the 1970s and continued for 20 years.

  • In 1972, the verification of geochemical anomalies through boreholes enabled the discovery of significant accumulations of copper-molybdenum ores and the identification of the most promising area of the Teghut deposit—the Central sector—along with turquoise mineralization in the oxidation zone.
  • During the prospecting and evaluation activities at the Central Teghut deposit from 1976 to 1978, a fairly large, irregularly shaped ore body was discovered, permeated by a dense network of differentiated ore-bearing veins and veinlets.
  • Between 1979 and 1991, a preliminary geological exploration of the site was conducted, a geological assessment of the deposit was provided, and the State Commission on Mineral Reserves of the Soviet Union, in accordance with Protocol No. 11074, confirmed ore reserves of approximately 454 million tons down to the 590 m horizon.

In 2006, "Teghut" CJSC was established for the purpose of operating the Teghut copper-molybdenum deposit.

Between 2006 and 2014, "Teghut" CJSC carried out large-scale design and construction works, and on December 20, 2014, the Company commenced the operation of the Teghut mine and the extraction of minerals.

In 2018, "Teghut" CJSC implemented the conservation of hazardous industrial facilities and suspended ore extraction and processing for 1.5 years.

In April-May 2019, the Company performed repair, restoration, and commissioning works, carried out the de-conservation of hazardous industrial facilities, obtained permission to restart the Ore Dressing Plant, and resumed production activities for mine operation and ore extraction with an annual capacity of 7 million tons.
